BBC’s One Big Weekend Comes To Middlesbrough

Big Music Event!

 

The fanrasfan Stewart Park in Middlesbrough has been announced as the venue for this year’s Radio 1 Big Weekend 2019 festival – and we’re absolutely over the moon.

The event will bring some of music’s biggest names to Teesside in May 2019.

Here are some of the key questions answered about the event which was announced on Wednesday morning.

Where is Radio 1 Big Weekend 2019 being held?

Stewart Park Middlesbrough has been chosen as the venue for this year’s event.

The 120-acre park is located in the southern suburb of Martonand and has previously played host to a number of major events such as The Cleveland Show and Party in the Park.

The Big Weekend event has become an added highlight on music lovers’ calendars.

It was held across four sites last year in Swansea, Coventry, Belfast and Perth, but will be in just one location in 2019 and that’s here!!

 

When is Radio 1 Big Weekend 2019 being held?

Date for the event is Saturday May 25th 2019 and Sunday May 26th

The weekend is the second Bank Holiday weekend in May and hopefully the weather will be perfect.

What is the line-up of Radio 1 Big Weekend 2019?

There’s some massive artists coming and more to be added in due course

Those who’ve been announced so far include:

  • pop starlet Miley Cyrus,
  • Brit Awards Winners band The 1975
  • Talwnted girl group Little Mix,
  • Spanish-born British singer Mabel,
  • singer Zara Larsson,
  • Mumford and Sobs

The full comprehensive line-up will be released over the next few weeks.

How many artists will there be?

Tonnes – over 50 acts comprised of the biggest UK and international names.

Live sets from Radio 1’s Big Weekend will be broadcast on BBC Radio 1 all weekend.

All performances will be available to watch live and on demand on BBC iPlayer

How can I get tickets for Radio 1 Big Weekend 2019 and how much do they cost?

The information on how to get your ticket for the music extravaganza will also be announced in the coming weeks so keep your eyes peeled.

But the good news is they’re free.

Radio 1’s Big Weekend is described as “the biggest free ticketed music event in Europe” – now in its 16th year.

Will I need ID?

At previius Big Weekend Events , organisers have said that you may be asked for ID at the entrance to the event in order to verify your age.

There is no age restriction to be able to attend the event; however those aged 16 and under MUST be accompanied by an adult aged 18+ in order to attend.

Acceptable forms of ID are a valid passport, valid EU photocard driving licence, a photographic ID card with the National Proof of Age Standards Scheme – PASS – hologram.
